Elephant nurseries have been popular for years! Maybe it has something to do with how elephants are known for their close-knit family groups led by the matriarch – and let’s face it, when it comes to the nursery it’s led by the mom. But when I think of an elephant themed nursery it can easily border on the line of kitschy and turn from a beautiful vision to an overwhelming safari disaster. Not to worry, though, because we’re here to tell you how to create an amazing elephant baby room that is on trend, stylish, and going to be your favorite place in the house!
Ok, here's the main thing to remember peeps: you can go OVERBOARD with themes. Trust us, we've seen it! We believe in taking a nursery theme and letting it be the accent, not the focus. This is how you take a trend from something you completely want to change in a month, to something you will absolutely love and will grow with you (and your child) for years to come.
Here are our top 3 tips for designing an Elephant Themed Nursery:
- Decor: The easiest way to incorporate the elephant nursery theme in a cute way is through wall art. You can even add a pop of color with the art or decor! Some of our favorite elephant décor pieces we’ve found at stores like Target, Pottery Barn, and even Home Depot! Can you believe this adorable elephant hamper is from Home Depot? It’s actually part of their Home Decorators Collection line that has some fun items.
- Bedding: If your theme is sports, butterflies, or elephants, it doesn't matter - the easiest way to make sure you don't over-theme your nursery is by sticking with bedding that uses the same colors as your overall design but doesn't have dancing animals all over it. A couple of our favorite bedding sets for an elephant nursery – which we’ve found typically has gray and/or yellow tones are Ryan’s Yellow & Gray Crib Bedding that features an extremely soft fabric & our exclusive Gray and White Arrow Baby Bedding.
- Accents: Try using cute lamps, storage containers, or even a rug printed in your nursery theme. It's a cute way to bring in the character or color scheme - just remember, only pick a few of your favorite accents. We love a cute elephant pillow & lamp to tie in with the wall art.
This design board for a gray elephant nursery is a great example of how to decorate around the elephant theme without too much of a good thing. It makes “filling in” the nursery that much easier since it doesn’t have to carry over with elephants on everything and gives you different textures and patterns to tie in. Check out our adorable Gray Modern Crib Bedding on our website to help inspire you, and don't forget that it doesn’t have to have elephant’s on the bedding to make an amazing and stylish elephant nursery.
Remember! You CAN have too much of a good thing! Happy decorating!
