Are you as obsessed with the color navy as I am!?? I have come to call navy a neutral color because I literally use it in all aspects of my life. I used this color in my wedding, the décor and paint in my home, I wear the color on a weekly basis, and you bet I will be using it in my nursery design (when that time comes of course)! I personally love the dark tone of this color and it is right on trend for nursery design. The great thing about navy trends today in the nursery is that it is not just used for baby boys. Now you see just as many navy girl nurseries as you do boy! There are several different ways to incorporate navy in your nursery design from bedding to accent walls to furniture and more! Here are my absolute favorite ideas for navy in the nursery.
Navy & Blush in the Nursery
A navy and blush nursery design mixes the dark bold with soft and sweet. This is obviously perfect for a mom who wants to be trendy and sweet at the same time! Using a dark navy color and accenting with soft blush floral print is the way to go in this navy nursery trend. There are two ways I think a navy and blush nursery design can be done.
One way is to paint all of the walls OR and accent wall in the navy color of choice. Then, bring the blush tones in with your bedding and bedding accessories. Caden Lane’s Harlow’s Watercolor Rose crib bedding is a perfect example of this nursery design. The solid blush crib sheet and beautiful blush crib bows really pull out the soft blush colors which will defiantly pop against a navy wall! The sweet watercolor roses will add just the right amount of girly floral to the room. Add in blush colored furniture like the dresser from Boo and Rook Interiors blog, and you pretty much nailed your baby’s room.
The second way is to paint your walls OR and accent wall in the blush color of your choice - I recommend Sherwin Williams SW6302 Innocence. This way you can bring the navy in through your bedding! I personally love the Berkeley’s Blush and Navy crib bedding because it has the perfect mix of navy and blush but also pulls in two other accent colors (mint and coral). The navy and blush floral print will be the focal point of your navy nursery design and this is perfect for moms who want to keep the walls simple. Add navy wall décor like a deer head and the Berkeley’s changing pad cover to your dresser or changing table. To add more navy accents, throw in accessories like pillows, poufs, rugs, or even a navy glider!
Nautical Navy Nursery Ideas
Brett’s Navy Gingham Baby Bedding
A Nautical nursery theme is another way to go with a navy nursery design. This popular trend is easy to achieve for a boy or girl nursery with the right accessories! In any nautical theme, navy and white stripes are a must and this can be done through accessories, like storage bins, pillows, curtains, etc. If you like a challenge, a navy and white striped wall is always a fun way to bring out a nautical theme! As far as the crib bedding goes, it does not have to be nautical at all. You do not need to have a whale themed crib sheet to get the nautical nursery of your dreams! Simple navy, white, and gray baby bedding will do the trick. A perfect example of this kind of bedding is shown above in Caden Lane’s Nautical Nursery trend board. They use Brett’s Navy Gingham baby bedding as the focal point of the nursery and add fun nautical décor and accessories. By adding these nautical accents of whales, anchors, navy and white stripes, rope, boats and more you can create the perfect navy nautical nursery! Designing a themed nursery doesn’t have to be complicated.
Dark Floral Nursery Inspiration
A dark floral, or moody, nursery design is an up and coming trend that, for the most part, features dark floral patterned wallpaper. This is a trendy and bold way to add something different to your nursery that the rest of the nursery is designed around. Dark floral wallpaper, like the ones shown above, is very bold and can be intimidating for most moms designing a nursery. Let’s be honest, this is a big commitment and while, yes, we love the look, how many of us would follow through with putting wallpaper in our nursery? I mean I love the dark navy floral wallpaper, but this means the nursery bedding has to be mostly neutral. If this is the case and you are ready for dark floral wallpaper, go for it! It’s your nursery and you should do what you love! Grab a solid crib sheet in blush and a crib skirt that make the wallpaper pop with a few navy accessories throughout the room! If the wallpaper is not for you, but you still love the dark floral/moody trend, never fear new mommies!! There is always another option to creating and designing an on trend nursery. You can get dark floral bedding and paint your nursery navy and get the same effect! Caden Lane has a variety of navy floral bedding that would be perfect in a dark floral/moody nursery design. One great example would be Madeline’s Purple and Navy Floral crib bedding - it features the perfect mix of dark floral prints without being too much and it will make your nursery pop against a navy wall!
Navy & Coral Nursery Trends
Charlie’s Coral and Navy Bumperless Crib Bedding
Navy and Coral – two amazing colors combined into one nursery design! You definitely can’t go wrong here! These trendy colors work in a girl or boy nursery as the colors can be gender neutral; it just depends on how the room is executed! For nursery design, navy walls or accent wall are always great ideas with coral accents in décor and bedding.
The Charlie’s Coral and Navy baby bedding is a perfect example for a little girl’s nursery! I love the beautiful floral print that is on the ruffle crib skirt and crib rail cover. This floral print mixes just the right amount of navy and coral with hints of pinks and mints to make the colors really pop – it's perfection! This crib bedding with coral accents and wall décor like a coral deer head or even a coral dresser against the navy walls make for a dreamy navy and coral girls nursery!
The Coral and Mint Arrow crib bedding would be a great set for a Navy and Coral boy’s nursery! The crib skirt pulls in the coral color against the navy walls and then you have the gray and mint for accent colors! You could even mix and match the bedding to create your own bedding set! For example, if the mint triangle crib sheet isn’t the direction you want to go, pair the gray and coral flat panel crib skirt with the solid peach crib sheet! The coral colors are a perfect match.
If navy is the color for your nursery, the sky is the limit with all of the ways you can make it amazing! Which navy trend is the one for your dream nursery!??
