Nautical Nursery

Ahoy, baby! A nautical nursery doesn't mean anchors and whales everywhere! We like the idea of focusing on color and print and adding a few nautical themed decor pieces to tie it all together. Think crisp colors like blue, white, and gray to set a neutral color palette for your ocean themed room design.  And get creative with the decor! We love the idea of using an old rope to spell out baby's name over the crib or add a cute saying with the wall art. Surely baby will sail away into slumberland in their perfectly styled room.

If you are expecting a sweet baby boy the nautical theme might be perfect for you. One of our favorite ways to create this trend in the nursery is to incorporate a preppy gingham with natural accents like wood, rope, and netting – they mix together perfectly! The nautical theme has been around for quite a while, but it no longer has to consist of just whales, sailboats and anchors. We’re loving the more preppy and sophisticated boating look.

Use a cute masculine gingham bedding with accents of paddles, rope, and wood. Have you seen our DIY rope name sign? It is super easy to do and is the perfect piece to add over a crib or changing table. Nautical nurseries are always going to be a popular trend so keeping it more neutral will help you keep it up to date. Doing a solid navy accent wall in your nautical nursery is going to make whatever you put against that wall pop! Along with the classic navy accents, you can also add in a wicker hamper, wood framed wall art, and even real fisherman items like paddles and fishing net to take his nursery to the next level. If you need to fill some wall space doing shelves is a perfect way to fill in that space.

Your curtains can be stripped gingham or solid! We even love even mixing in taupe striped curtains. With all the simplicity of the bedding and accessories you now can add in some of the anchors, whales, and sailboats. With you working like a captain to make their nurseries perfect they get to play like a pirate in their rooms!
